Jesus The Great Shepherd

The image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd, a guiding light for his flock, has long captivated my imagination. In John 10:14, Jesus declares, "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me." This intimate connection, this unwavering trust, is the cornerstone of our faith.

I've sought to capture this essence in my artwork, portraying Jesus as the shepherd leading his flock. The sheep, following closely, symbolize our unwavering trust and obedience. Jesus' gentle guidance, his unwavering care, and his promise of eternal life offer us a beacon of hope in a world filled with uncertainty.

While Jesus will always extend his hand, guiding us back to the fold, the choice to follow remains ours. It is a conscious decision, a testament to our faith and trust in his divine leadership. As we follow his example, we embark on a journey of spiritual growth and eternal salvation. in John 10:27–28, it states, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me".

This artwork is a tribute to the enduring power of Jesus' love and the profound connection between the shepherd and his flock. It serves as a reminder that in following Jesus, we find not only guidance but also a sense of belonging and purpose.

Classically trained at Brigham Young University in illustration and visual arts, He has always veered toward creative expression. He was a founding Member of the A cappella singing group InsideOut that performed at venues across the country at the turn of the century, producing 6 Albums. His art is often an inspired vision of faith and art, blending the new with the old into inspiring views of holy things. Layne’s art, rich with religious themes and serene depictions of Jesus Christ, aims to share the peace and beauty he sees through his unique perspective.
