Why can’t the quiet evenings be longer? The cool breeze, the cooled colors turning objects to
viridian and cobalt blue, and the sounds of little ladybugs and fireflies wafting around the set up. This painting was done outside on a cool evening in July under the spreading branches of a crab apple tree. The lavenders and cool pinks and greens are set off by the apricots and plums and the gold patterned cloth. It was awesome to be in the shade, looking through the still life to the green lawn made yellow by the sunlight. Can this be described as complete peace? I still feel the evening softness when I look at this painting.
